John R. Lambert, Jr. (1916 - 1994), was a hybrid specialist in daylilies. He was a social studies professor at North Carolina State University from 1952 to 1970, when he became a professor of University Studies. He received an undergraduate degree from Western Maryland College and a Ph.D. in History from Princeton University.
